Native
breeds
The county administrative board has its own herd of cattle to take
care of part of the Lake Hornborga nature reserve. It is made up of
around 30 Väne cows and 45 Gotland sheep. These are native breeds
that are ideally suited to cultivating the soil in the nature reserve.
At the same time, we are helping to conserve these native breeds.
The animals graze in the water meadows and the cultural landscape
around Lake Hornborga.
